The film tells a love and hatred story between Xu Xian, Xu Xun and Guan Yiyun. It was made in China and released on December 12, 2017 by Alibaba Pictures. It was filmed in Nanjing, Suzhou and Changzhou of Jiangsu Province for over 130 sets of sets. The production team also hired all large-scale battle scenes from nine countries including Russia, Hong Kong and United Kingdom with more than 200 people .The movie has grossed more than 1 billion yuan at the box office across East Asia within seven days. In The Qiu Family, a wilful and stubborn girl named Xu Xian marries into a large-scale business family. Together with her three brothers, her father Liu Yuanlong, elder brother Liu Yanjun and younger brother Liu Yunying live together in Nanjing. Years later, she becomes pregnant with a girl, making the family happy except for the elder brother who is upset. He forbids her to find a husband and sends her to a mysterious house where she stays for a few months. On the way back home one day, she meets Dong Chu Xiong from Chu State for the first time and falls in love with him at first sight. However, her family refuses her to marry. She decides to marry Dong instead, but after she makes the decision, Dong has already left for the border area of Yan State. Several years later, Xu Xian is now living in Yan State with her husband Dong Chu Xiong and their daughter Zhang Shuangren (Zhang Tingting) along with his mother-in-law, his two brothers-in-law and their families. The local people respect them very much because they are the only family who salvaged the rice field that was burnt down by flood incident several years ago. One day, Xu Xun (John Cho) comes to visit Xu Xian. However, he and Dong Chu Xiong argue and Xu Xun leaves in anger. He comes to visit again and declares his love for Xu Xian. Xu Xian is very happy, but her younger brothers are against his marriage with Xu Xian. Xu Xun arrives at the house again to say good bye to her. However, they are not able to see each other because of quarrels between both families. The Qiu Family is an influential family in the Yan State people's hearts, so it is difficult for them to move away from their hometown even though they have great power in the business field. On the other hand, Chu State wants them to move because of the rebuilding of the local church. A few years later, Chu State has rebuilt its church but it cannot be completed because of lack of funds. One day, Chu Xiong decides to go back to his hometown for a short while. He is attacked by bandits and saved by Tang Feifei (Kate Tsui) who tells him about Xu Xun's daughter Zhang Shuangren (Zhang Tingting) who had been rescued by Tan Zhiming (Johnny Sequoia) on her way home. Xu Xun comes back to Yan State for the first time in twenty years on the day before his daughter's wedding ceremony.
